Another approach involves transplanting embryonic stem cells into the injured heart tissue to restore cell function. If the heart can be regenerated, a patient can have a heart transplant within weeks. If it can't be, the patient should have the transplanted heart replaced with a functioning organ. This is an option that will not cost more than$20,000 to$50,000 and is the most expensive alternative for individuals with heart failure.
